HealthGuard Installation
Clairity HealthGuard is a media filter pad that is cut to order. The pads are made in the USA and rated to MERV 11, with the additional benefit of antiviral and dust trapping technology (MERV 13+) that is not typically available in MERV 11 filters sold at the store.
Here is a simple guide for determining whether you need an air filter frame and/or wire. This filter is designed to be installed in two situations:
1. Return vents:
- These are the typical filter replacements that make up the majority of our subscriptions. Vents for this variant are usually located on your ceiling or wall and take in the surrounding air from your home.
- You do not need a steel frame for standard return vents, but you may need wire.
- If a wire mesh is already present, you only need the filter pad. Select "No thanks - I already have wire mesh." Below is an example of an opening with wire:
- If there is no wire present, select the option "include wire mesh." When you receive the wire in your first shipment, bend several of the tabs so the wire sticks in the opening.
- When inserting the filter pad, make sure to orient the pad so that the purple side is facing outwards (towards you) and the white side is facing inwards (towards the vent)
2. Furnace slots:
- The furnace slot (or filter rack) is usually located where air enters your HVAC system, near the air handler.
- Because air pressure is stronger here, the filter needs rigid support.
- Always order the steel frame and wire when you need a filter for a furnace slot.
- to insert the media pad into the frame, bend back the spring-loaded frame and press the pad in. Ensure that the purple side of the filter is facing outwards (toward oncoming air) and the white side is facing inwards (towards the air handler). There should be a sticker indicating the direction to place the pad.
- All subsequent shipments of your filter will include only the pad. To replace, simply take out the frame and remove the media pad. Then push back the wire and insert the new pad.
